Submarine 'Raigei' launched by Kawasaki Heavy Industries

On October 17 , Kawasaki Heavy Industries held a launching ceremony for the submarine "Raigei" for the Ministry of Defense, which is currently under construction at the No. 1 slipway at its Kobe Plant, with Parliamentary Vice -Minister of Defense Miyake, Chief of the Maritime Staff Sakai, and Nishiwaki's Defense Equipment Agency Director-General's Secretariat deliberating. The ceremony was held in the presence of government officials and other Ministry of Defense officials. The naming and cutting of the branch line was carried out by Parliamentary Vice-Minister of Defense Miyake.

This ship is the fourth Taigei-class submarine and the 31st submarine built at our factory after the war .

This ship, which has excellent underwater maneuverability and propulsion performance, uses high-tensile steel for the hull that can withstand high water pressure, and is equipped with a new type of main engine. Furthermore, it has high diving performance thanks to the use of lithium-ion batteries, automation of various systems, improved search ability and stealth performance with high-performance sonar equipment, and has also been fully equipped with various safety measures. We are also taking care of the passengers.
